Welcome to apple season! Apples are such a sweet treat and cooking them makes them even more digestible. So enjoy this dessert and remember to cook the appropriate fruits if your digestive system seems sluggish. Here you have it, dessert and digestive support – the perfect combo!
Simple and Delicious Apple Crisp
4 cups organic apple slices, peeled or unpeeled (Granny Smith seem to be best but it is your choice)
1/3 cup all-purpose flour – (I use Pamela’s GF Baking mixture)
1 cup uncooked oats, rolled
1/2 cup coconut sugar (or sugar of your choice)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (I use more because I love cinnamon)
1 teaspoon ground cardamon
1/3 cup organic butter or ghee
Put apples in 8×8 baking dish. Combine dry ingredients, add melted butter and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle crumb mixture over apples. Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes or until apples are tender. Makes six servings.
You can easily double this recipe and use a 9×13 dish. Serve plain or for a more decadent version, serve with vanilla coconut milk ice cream.
